On the occasion of the UEFA Cup finals, UEFA awarded these plaques to the national football associations from which the final participants came. The engraved plaques with the pairings were each made in the corresponding national language (this plaque in German or English). From around 2000 the appearance of these plaques changed; the UEFA plaque is made of ceramic and was mounted on a light metal plate.
