FIFA World Cup 1950. Runners up medal: Official winner's medal for Uruguay, the winner of the 4th FIFA World Cup in 1950 in Brazil. Medal of Viktor Rodriguez Andrade (1927-1985). "Coupe Jules Rimet World Cup Brazil 1950." Gold (18-karat tested by a jeweler). Engraved with the initials "RA" (Rodriguez Andrade), 3.6 x 2.3 cm. There was no final at the 1950 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. The world champions were determined from a group of four teams. Uruguay won the championship. The world champions received this gold medal (13 copies). All other teams in this final group received 13 copies of this medal, but in silver (FIFA World Cup regulations 1950). All medals were issued without name engravings. The Uruguayan players in particular had their names or initials engraved afterwards! The gold medals of Ruben Moran and Roque Maspoli, which were sold at auction in recent years (hammer prices 20,000 and 24,000 GBP respectively), also had the players' names engraved, but both with simple engravings of the full names. Neither medal had a gold hallmark, but were made of 18-karat gold. Andrade's medal comes from an English collection. The collector acquired this medal at an English auction in early 2000.
