Gold medal for 1st place in basketball for the USSR team at the 1972 Munich Olympic Games. (Designed by G. Cassioli and G. Marcks). Silver, gold-plated, 6.6 cm with original chain. Engraved with "Basketball" and the athlete's name on the edge. For the first time since 1936, the basketball winner was not from the USA. In the most dramatic basketball final in Olympic history, Russian Alexander Belov scored the decisive points for the Soviet team in the final seconds. The final and decisive scene of the game had to be replayed twice before the USSR scored the winning points, 51-50. The US team did not participate in the awards ceremony in protest, and not a single US player ever received their silver medal. --The consignor received this medal directly from family of the athlete. The buyer will receive the athlete's name, which is also engraved on the rim. Medal slightly tarnished. Condition: A-

The price you specify in your order is the hammer price, excluding buyer’s premium and VAT.
The buyer’s premium (auction fee) is 16.5%.
The total price is calculated as follows:
Hammer price + 16.5% buyer’s premium + shipping costs (if applicable) = Subtotal + 7% VAT = Final price
Items can be paid for and taken immediately after the auction.
For bids placed via the auction portal or written orders, items can be shipped upon request. In this case, shipping and packaging costs are borne by the buyer.
