Olympic Games Berlin 1936 Gold Winner medal: Gold winner's medal "11th Berlin Olympics 1936" by Ernst Ihbe (1913-1992; GER) for first place in the 2000 m tandem sprint with Carl Lorenz. Punched on the edge with the manufacturer's mark "B.H. Mayer, Pforzheim 990." Silver (hallmarked 990, weight: 74 grams), gold-plated, 5.5 cm in the original leather case with embossed lid. --Medal (Condition: A-B) slightly tarnished; small dents on the edge and traces of gold testing. (The medal of Carl Lorenz (1913-1993), which AGON sold around 1995, showed similar marks. Both athletes evidently believed this medal to be made of solid gold and were visibly disappointed. Both medals have dents. Note: W. Fuhr, Expert AGON.) Case heavily rubbed; gold embossing no longer present (Condition: C). The consignor received this medal directly from the estate of Ernst Ihbe approximately 25 years ago. Condition:
